Born in 1978, she took her first violin lessons at the age of seven with Dora Kobelt at the Glarnermusikschule. At the age of 16 she was accepted as a „Young Student“ in the class of Matthias Boegner at the Zurich conservatory, which she left after one year to begin her viola studies at the Musikhochschule Zürich in the class of Michel Rouilly. After graduating with a teaching Master she continued her studies at the conservatory of Maastricht (Netherlands) as a student of Michael Kugel’s. Since 2002 she is living as a freelancer violist in Zürich. Her work involves teaching as well as chamber music performances. Daphne Unseld is regularly playing for several Swiss orchestras.
