Fedor Saminski

Cellist Fedor Saminski, originally from Moscow, studied with Natalia Timofeeva, Walter Grimmer and Roel Dieltiens and completed his teaching and concert diplomas at the Zurich University of the Arts. During his studies he received multiple prizes at Russian national competitions as well as the Koechert and Kiwanis prizes.

His concert activities encompass solo programmes with narrator, chamber music in a variety of formations – in particular with his piano quartet s-ensemble – as well as appearances as a soloist with orchestra. In recent years he has been heard in works by Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Haydn, Gubaidulina and Boccherini, among others.

His particular focus is on historically informed performances on the Baroque cello and the Romantic violoncello, as well as selective engagement with contemporary music, and he especially values collaborating with composers on their works. In this way, pieces by Rodolphe Schacher and Enrico Lavarini, among others, have been developed and given their world premieres.

His performances have taken him to numerous venues across Europe, including the Tonhalle Zurich, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the philharmonic halls of Chernivtsi and Voronezh, and the festival «Les Sommets du classique» in Crans-Montana.
